Happy Deepavali ✨
Deepavali, also known as Diwali, refers to the Festival of Lights. This day marks a celebration of triumph of good over evil and the victory of light over darkness. It is the most festive time of the year for our Indian friends all over the world. As our children have learnt about the different races and cultures in class previously, they were filled with curiosity of how their Indian friends celebrate this event. Hence, it was a good opportunity for us to celebrate this festival together with our children.
During Deepavali, Indian families will light up clay lamps outside of their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness. As these lights are said to bring about prosperity in the New Year, our centres were also decorated with pictures of the clay lamps. Our children were also engaged with crafts related to these lamps.
Here are some snippets of our celebrations.
On behalf of our Ichiban Montessori Group, we would like to wish all our Hindu parents and children a “Happy Deepavali”. May the divine light of this auspicious festival surround you with prosperity, joy and happiness!
