Learning about Birds 🐔🐧🐦

This week, our children explored another group of animals- Birds! There was much to explore for this topic and children were especially intrigued by  birds’ unique ability to fly. Children got to inquire and learn about the characteristics of a bird that gives them this amazing skill of flying.

As part of their project work on Friday, children got to create amazing pieces of work. In addition to igniting their creative juices, these project work tasks allowed children to appreciate the beauty of the birds they were creating.

In some of our classes, children went on an outdoor nature walk to observe the birds in their neighbourhood. At the same time, they collected fallen leaves, which were used to create giant bird murals.

Take a look at their amazing art pieces! 😁

Not only do our children learn to turn natural litter into beautiful art pieces, they also gain a greater understanding and awareness of the shapes and features that make up the body of a bird. bird18

In other classes, children got to learn about and appreciate one of the most majestic birds there is- the Peacock. Our teachers came up with the wonderful idea of having children design and decorate one feather each and then assembling them altogether to create the beautiful train of the Peacock. Here’s a look at what our talented children came up with!

In this class, children constructed a bird house using recycled materials. Children learnt that some birds live in bird houses and these houses usually contain food (seeds) and water for birds to feed themselves and to rest.

Children love it when they get move around and learn at the same time! In this class, children were engaged in a game of “Eagle and Chicks”. On top of having great fun, children were also able to learn about how some birds are predators and others are preys.
