My Community (Occupations) 👷
Living in a community, we learn to help and maintain healthy relationships with each other for survival. We depend on each other for many things, more so ever on our community helpers. They help us in so many different way, making our communities safer, cleaner and more pleasant to live in through the services or products that they provide us.
For this week, our children were given the opportunity of learning about community helpers with their peers. They were taught about the importance of our community helpers and their roles. The children also learnt to recognize the uniforms and the special vehicles that some of our community helpers wear and use.
The toddlers had the experience of working in a bakery, through their project work. They were tasked to create models of cakes using sponges, before carrying out their pretend play experiences. The cake models that the children and teachers have created looked very appetizing. The children really enjoyed playing with it.
The children also role-played as hairdressers, working in saloon. They created an ideal hair style together, using different art materials.
They have also created a construction site for their role play scene. The children learnt about signs, labels and the different type of equipment, like safety helmets, boots, goggles, gloves and vests needed for working at a construction site.
Through these activities, the children learn to respect the roles of our community helpers and understand the value of community living. We had an enjoyable week of learning. Hope you had a great week too!
