Week 3 Project Work: My Feelings
In the month of January, our centres embarked on our new and improved 2019 curriculum, which includes engaging in a Project every Friday! There are many benefits to this new inclusion including improving children’s social and emotional development as they learn to work and interact with their peers, as well as enhancing children’s creativity as they come up with interesting solutions to the various challenges they face.
Let’s take a look at some of the fun activities children were involved in this week!
Children were asked to draw pictures of themselves expressing an emotion of their choices. These were to be hung on an Emotions Tree! 🌲 (Check out the photos on the bottom right hand corner for the final product!)
Children in this picture are learning about the emotion of “Anger” through a very familiar game character: the Angry Birds! They also practice displaying this emotion on their faces! Knowing about the different emotions and learning to express them increases children’s awareness of their own feelings and allows them to build their self-concepts and self-esteems.
Our children also created their own Book of Emotions for their class to display at the learning corners. They chose and carefully cut out images from magazines that represented the emotions of their choices.
Before assembling the final product, children were asked to label the emotions and decorate the pages! Look at their beautiful and creative art pieces! 😁
That was a really exciting Friday and our children really enjoyed themselves working with their friends!
Stay tuned for next week’s update 😁
