Week 6: Learning about My School!
We are back in school after the Chinese New Year break and the teachers prepared a line-up of fun and meaningful lessons for the children to participate in!
This week, children learnt about ‘My School’. Let’s take a look at what happened at our various centres! 😁
Children also learnt and talked about the different ways to travel to school. Some children came by bus, some children walk and others take other forms of transport. In some classes, children constructed road maps around the school and engaged in dramatic play.
Children in this class worked in groups of threes to create a roadmap representing their journey to school. They even created adorable moveable human figures out of cardboard and with their faces on them to represent themselves 😁
Other than learning about what can be found in the vicinity of our schools, children also explored the objects that can be found in school. As part of their project work, children created a fact book about the common objects that can be found in the classroom. One of the goals was to give children ownership over creating their very own book. They were so proud of the finished product at the end of the lesson! 😁
Children coloured the pictures and then pasted the labels accordingly.
Children were given the opportunity to talk and share about their work with their friends!
Finally, in Mother Tongue classes on Friday, children got to create their own games with paper plates and toilet rolls. Children were introduced to a simple traditional game and they were also really excited to play a game that they created on their own 😊
That was a really fruitful time in school this week!
Stay tuned for next week’s updates 😁
